Summer has finally graced us all with it's presence and warm weather and the Jack Wills Martha's Vineyard team couldn't be happier. The past few weeks have been epic, the fun never ending. We have been representing the brand on nights out, wearing all the styles Summer Holiday has to offer, furthering our close-knit relationships with one another. The Vineyard has been lucky enough to receive visits from Bostonians, New Haveners and Newporters alike for house parties, bar crawls and birthday parties.

As a new-comer to the island, I am already hooked. The people, the places... Beaches, boats, fields, horses and endless fun all on one island? While it has been non-stop "I love my life" moments since day one, I can only imagine what sinful, extravagant adventures will come with the influx of Island-goers and rising temperatures of the summer months.

Jack Wills Does 'Fratty' @TrinColl

After officially accepting that I was done for the year at school, what better way to distract my nostalgia than to join the Jack Wills crew in Hartford for a frat party? Not much. So off to Trinity College I was, best friend in tow and party pants on. The night started slow, catching up with everyone in Rachel's apartment, but hit a spike once arriving at the Alpha Delta frat house. If I had to choose one word to describe the duration of the evening it would have to be “fratastic”. The house was decked out in neon paint, Jack Wills banners, Uncle Jack flags, bars, a library (my favorite aspect), countless drinking game tables, a dancing cage and a DJ booth. Being only my second frat party ever, I still wasn’t sure what to expect but the frattiness that ensued seemed text-book quality. Kegs, backwards hats, pastels, fleece vests, anything urbandictionary.com dubbs “frat”, you name it, was there.

The Jack Wills New Haven crew eventually joined us there as well. Members of the team tended the bar, filling Jack Wills Seasonnaires cups with delicious concoctions.

The music was great, the dancing never ending, and to my appeal, the chivalry was pretty top-notch in regards to getting drink refills. The only downfall was the condition my feet and Jack Wills sandals were in at the end of the night, although this was probably a trend amongst all the party go-ers. Regardless, it was great seeing people I hadn’t in a while, as well as the many new faces I momentarily became acquainted with. It was a late night followed by an early morning, but none the less a great brief Jack Wills oriented jaunt.

Hello All!

my JW duffle is going to Italy!

So this semester has just ended at Northeastern University, and it looks like this is my last summer to enjoy some beach and surfing before heading into the real world and attending my co-op in Italy! I just received a letter from Italian Vogue last week stating that I had been chosen for the co-op I had applied for! As a broadcast Journalism Major at Northeastern University, I applied to only one Co-op. Italian Vogue. I'll be a intern Broadcaster working fashion week and all the red carpet events, interviewing models, designers and celebrities and I am ecstatic. I have worked really hard for this and its finally paying off. I will have to bring some JW gear to show the Italians what they are missing, and maybe even scout for a location for the first store there? The possibilities are endless. It has been amazing working with everyone at Jack Wills, and I am so excited to continue as a Seasonnaire across the Atlantic. So, as many of you are finishing up your semesters, I wish you all the luck with finals and let the parties begin. I can't wait to see you all this summer, and keep in touch.

The Last Day of Finals at Furman!

Although I was locked in the basement of the science building defining the functions of each cranial nerve on Saturday at 8 a.m. while Juliana, Ben, Grace, Abby, and Olly were fantastically representing the Jack Wills lifestyle to my fellow Southern students, I wore my luckiest pair of party pants... And I passed anatomy. This was a miracle, to say the least.

BUT NOW SUMMER IS UPON THE SOUTH and we are already prepared. Last night was spent slip-and-sliding in bikinis avoiding lightning strikes at the Furman baseball house. Bud Diesel was consumed until at least 4 a.m. and this morning my electrolyte-hungry brain spent no less than an hour on my iPad (THANKS JW!) debating between the purchase of an Ellerton and a Larkhill dress (feel free to help). Some might say this is the antithesis of productive, but I'm feeling pretty damn spicy.

Wake Up with Jack Wills

My friends often joke about me working for a clothing company, some even call me "Jack", but one thing they never turn down is a pair of the signature yellow JW Seasonnaire briefs. Every time there is an event or a promotion people flock to them. A few weeks ago my friend Pat had what I think is the best JW yellow brief story to date.

Pat has an artsy nerdy swag that has worked wonders for him for years. A few weeks ago after an art exhibition, obviously enamored by his work, there were several girls vying for his attention. Pat selected a very beautiful unnamed girl and brought her back to his apartment. They start to hook up and get undressed when all of a sudden the both burst out laughing--each is wearing a pair of yellow JW seasonnaire briefs.

I am not sure how or if Pat ever recovered that night but for some reason I find this story absurdly hilarious. Thank you JW.

18 Holes in one?

Today the brothers of Beta Theta Pi at St. Lawrence University hit the links for the annual Beta golf tournament! The competition was stiff, and the running was close, but I broke 100...no small feet for me. Although I was a long shot for the victory (81, and thus winning the famed and hallowed green blazer), I had an awesome time on a beautiful (and there aren't many) spring day here in the North Country.
The (drinking) day started last night with the tri-Delta formal where swing dancing and plenty of booze put many brothers (and sisters) out of commission. So our sub-noon tee-times today were a struggle from the get go. First shot, our resident (and original, check youtube) laxbro, Micl, shanked one, no joke, 45 degrees ACROSS the driving range making many a would be competitor duck in horror. Mick would eventually bow out after puking on the 9th green. The rest of us pushed on, with beer in hand and putter in the other, eventually the full 18 were conquered.
All of us are truly looking forward to summer now, but what an great way to spend such an incredible day here in the North Country! Party Pants an all.

A Day at the Races: Keeping things foxy at Foxfield.

Just got home from a weekend full of perfect weather and good company at the Foxfield races in Charlottesville VA. Ben met up with us in DC for a night out in Georgetown on Thursday before we headed to UVA to link with Juliana the next morning. Although Virginia is only a state away, it definitely has more of a Southern feel about it (due in part to it's very apparent affinity for chicken and biscuits. Olly even met the South's king of KFC in the president's booth at the races.) Friday night we explored downtown Charlottesville, grabbed some dinner with everyone, and checked out Juliana's sorority Tri-Delt. We subjected Ben to some Freddie Prinze Jr. flicks and passed out early so we'd be ready to go full-force the next day.

We got an early start the next morning, as although Foxfied is only a few miles from UVA campus, the trip is known to be made at a crawl due to the impossible amount of people that drive in for the races. I wore the Larkhill dress (as pictured above,) but forgot a very important accessory: sunscreen, and am now coping with a sunburn that highlights the dress's keyhole back design. Attractive. We eventually made it to our plot of land, where we set up our JW tent, complete with bumping tunes from the Land Rover and goodies like customized Foxfield sunglasses and beer coozies. We quickly made a lot of friends, and saw a lot of old ones too!

According to UVA students, actually seeing a horse at the event is completely unexpected, as many people never make it off their own plot. We quickly learned that the event centers more around the outfits and the beverages than the jockeys, but we were still determined to catch a glimpse of the races. Luckily were able to watch from the presidents booth, where we even got close enough to pet one of the horses, which I'd say makes our first Foxfield trip a success. Abby and I placed bets on a few of the races, but unfortunately had no success, although we met a lot of interesting people doing so!

As usual there was plenty of revelry and laughs throughout the day, complete with some rooftop dancing on the Landy. After a long day in the sun we headed back into town where we had a nice supper and hung out with some of our new Charlottesville friends. I'm currently recooperating from an overload of fun, so until next time, XOXO.

Welcome To The Content Crew

A little time into my winter, once I was actually in, I opened my eyes to just how many amazing things were happening all around me all the time. I became aware of a band of brothers (and sisters) know only to you or I as the Content Crew, the cyber division of Aspen Snowmass' marketing team, responsible for nothing more than providing stellar online content to further Aspen's presence on the web. In other words, the only group in the whole resort who could possibly have a better job than me. Luckily, as a Seasonnaire it is my responsibility to seek out these pockets of forward thinking individuals, always pushing for something fresh and new, something different, something better. Needless to say, I had to find this Content Crew, and infiltrate them like Irina Shayk infiltrates your dreams. Blinded by my own genius at the conception of such a ravishing plot, I was unprepared for what I would find...

Introducing the Content Crew, a melting pot of the purest intentions and finest initiatives charged (honestly) with the sole responsibility of providing great media content for Aspen Snowmass to utilize through their numerous web portals. What I didn't expect, unsurprisingly, was to find a group of people who boasted (without boasting) one of the most unique combined skill sets and diverse set of interests I have ever come upon. A group of people who, despite all else, consistently come together in the best of ways to ski, ride and shoot everything. Imagine turning the key to a Secret Garden, and inside waiting for you was a guide, this guide knew every last inch of the garden and all of the magic it could possibly offer. Your guide calls the garden home because he knows how special it is, and he is not alone, but he is unique, and willing to share. You have walked a thousand gardens, but not this one, and now you are the new kid.

David Amirault - The godfather of Content Crew, whose ability to spontaneously manifest wifi hotspots is surpassed only by his talent as a modern day html Shakespeare. His symbiotic relationship with modern technology (not his stature) have earned him the alias Digi, a nickname which stuck harder than most as he powers forward on his quest digitize the whole of Aspen/Snowmass. He is basically Neo.

Gordon Bronson - Drives home at 3am in bath robes and wet boxers. Born and bred on the streets of Aspen, it is impossible to go anywhere this kid hasn't already been. If you know the restaurant, he knows the owner. If you know the owner, he knows the owner's daughter, and her friends... Gordon's meteoric rise through the social standings has earned him the unofficial title "Mayor Of Aspen", I feel he wears it well.

G.R. Fielding - I know a little less about. But I do know that he knows Snowmass better than I know myself, which should be worrying. He was also born with unnaturally dense muscle tissue (or something) which allows him to generate more inertia in 5 metres of forest than is healthy for any man. Possibly the best skier on the mountain. Jealous?

Jeremy Swanson - Aspen's very own photographic phenomenon and raw file renegade, responsible for every single picture in this post, Jeremy claims that he'd rather be lucky than skillful, when in truth he is the wickedest combination of both. When you reach the apex of your professional life and you are sure you have the best job in the world, call Jeremy and go compare. Wake, eat, ride, shoot, laugh, drink, sleep, repeat. There may be some factors I missed, but I'm pretty sure that's about it.

Honourable Mention: Joel Gratz - The Rocky Mountains' first ever dedicated personal powder snow forecaster. Aside from being a walking meteorology guide, Gratzo's fresh approach to the business is taking the snow report industry in refreshing new directions. The man is definitely worth a look, how do you think we always know where to look for the best snow?

There is however two very strict limiting pre-requisites before you can ride with the Content Crew.

1. You absolutely must be under 5' 8", it makes the snow look deep.

2. You gotta be able to hang.

Congrats to Wills and Kate!

I hope at least someone else is as insane as I am for waking up tomorrow morning at 4 am to watch the Royal Wedding (and did I mention tomorrow is also "Blowout," the last day of classes at William & Mary when everyone is already a tad crazy)? But I'm so ready to don a Jack Wills dress and a wide-brimmed hat while feasting on cinnamon buns and sipping o.j. out of a champagne glass. I'm a sucker for dressing up, and this just adds to the many costume changes I'm sure I'll be making throughout the day tomorrow as it is (start off in one JW dress, change into another for my classes and lunch, then switch to a JW top and bright pink chino shorts for the afternoon- I've had this planned for a while).

It's bound to be a long day and chances are I'll collapse on my bed around 6 o'clock, but it will certainly be worth it. So don't forget to toast Wills and Kate on their big day (and maybe sip some Earl Grey from your commemorative JW Wills & Kate Minster Mug)! Tomorrow will be fabulously British for sure.

Spring Fling!

Spring Fling: 1. A casual relationship between two persons who are usually attracted to one another. This can involve puppy love, sex, or perhaps just “hooking up.

2. Spring Fling can also refer to a colligate dance held at a few American universities (i.e. Tufts University and the University of Pennsylvania) according to Urban Dictionary.

Jack Wills, however, chose Yale's!

Not only does Jack Wills provide delicious spring florals on their jumpers and delicate plaids on their oxfords, but the supply the states with impeccably timed spring weather. This past Tuesday was Yale's Spring Fling and a great group consisting of Red (finally back on the east coast), Ben, Will, Rachel, myself and Izzy (finally in the US!) were all in attendance, sprinkling Jack Wills love all over New Haven, CT. We arrived at the hotel mid afternoon, the sunshine at its peak and gathered for a delicious drink and quick bite on the terrace before making our way to campus.

Walking into the gates of Yale, you could hear the DJs on the quad pumping tunes and we were all excited. Now, I had never been to the school prior to this, but it was well worth the wait. I was instantly impressed by the amounts of cherry blossoms on campus, the pristine courtyards, stone buildings and statues, and ornate doors. It was very picturesque. Walking into Will's dorm after this scene, I was not expecting the pre-game that awaited us; beer, shot-gunning, and what seemed to be a New Haven trend, smoking indoors. Then it was off to the first performance of the fling, Third Eye Blind, for a little while until we went to the Owl Lounge, a very swanky cigar bar. After another round of drinks or two with the great Jack Wills group and friends, it was back to Yale's quad for Lupe Fiasco, whose performance was amazing. We danced, took pictures, sat on shoulders and rapped along.

The group definitely took full advantage of all of the hot spots New Haven had to offer as we bopped along the streets, stopping into several eateries and drink joints as desired, (leaving a #jwsummer carving mark every so often...) before indulging in the Jack Wills hosted after party at Toads Place. The venue was kind enough to let us park right out front, adorn the bar and stage with banners and let our closest friends through the back. A few shots later, the girls and I were off dancing the night away on stage before the party pants frenzy began. Rachel and Izzy headed to the DJ booth and spread the Jack Wills party pants love, as we all did later on stage. The limited amount we had caused quite the ruckus among the crowd, but the most deserving went home with a pair of the neon numbers. We eventually had our own dance party in the hotel later that night (there may have been a box of pizza somewhere in the mix) before sleep. Following an early morning all you can eat breakfast in the hotel, the close-knit Jack Wills gang that had assembled for Spring Fling said their "goodbye"s and dispersed... until next time, of course!

So we heading up to St. Lawrence in upstate NY last weekend for the Spring Fest. The 8 hour journey in Friday evening traffic from Boston was made the pass more quickly with the anticipation of joining Britt at the bar on arrival. We awoke with a sprightly gait on Saturday morning and the festivities for Spring Fest began with a Kappa house party as a prelude to the main show. A superb weekend, but the journey home brought with it a little headache, as passenger Tom will testify!

Almost Summer for the Seasonnaires

It's officially one week until the last day of classes (appropriately dubbed by W&M students as "Blowout") and the royal wedding (hello, 4 am wake-up call!), which can only mean one thing: summer is on my mind. I keep getting bursts of excitement for sun, sand, and working (yay?) in between the bursts of fear I suffer from thanks to my looming final exams. Thankfully I think the prospect of summer will be enough to carry me through the next few weeks of constant studying and complaining with my classmates. To kickoff the best season of the year, here is my top three things I'm excited for upon my return to Connecticut from good old Virginia.

1. More Jack Wills stores!

The British are coming, and not just to Massachusetts anymore. Thanks to my inside scoop from JW and Women's Wear Daily, I've been getting pumped for the New Haven, CT, Newport, RI, and Southampton, NY stores opening in May and the Charlottesville, VA store in June. New Haven is dangerously close to my homebase, so I'm sure I'll be frequenting the store quite often this summer on my days off of work when the weather's not good enough to hit up Compo Beach in Westport (the JW Westport store doesn't open til later this year). And of course, I'll be hitting one of the original US stores in Nantucket when I'm there in early August. Luckily, I already have my wishlist picked out (including the liberty print Larkhill dress).

2. Polo matches.

Jack Wills Varsity Polo in June is such an awesome event, even from watching it on my laptop across the Pond. Hopefully I'll get to go to a polo match in person again this summer in Greenwich with some friends (and hopefully it doesn't randomly thunderstorm in the middle of the match like last year). Getting dolled up in floppy hats and sundresses is pretty much a favorite summer pastime of mine, so I'll be jumping at the opportunity to watch some polo.

3. Beachy luxury.

I don't think I've ever looked forward to going to the beach as much as I have been recently. There's just something so glamorous and preppy about walking onto the sand with your Jack Rogers in one hand and your Vineyard Vines beach tote slung over your shoulder. But bathing suits and beach blankets aside, I'm loving walks on the beach at sunset (don't care that this is the cheesiest thing ever) and even glam dinners where the surf meets the sand. The idea of wearing a Lilly maxi dress with some chunky statement jewelry while dining on the beach is just too fabulous for words. Floppy straw hat not optional (this classic one is from J.Crew).

Final Thoughts

A lot of people thought we were crazy when Colin and I decided to drive from Sarasota, FL to Telluride, CO...from the gold coast of Florida to a small town in the middle of the Rockies. Bad weather kept me out of the first three legs of the trip...while I was stuck (or lucky) to be in New Jersey with my girlfriend, Colin and his younger brother drove from Sarasota to Tallahassee, Tallahassee to New Orleans, and NOLA to Dallas. I flew in and joined the crew in Dallas and the trip really kicked off.

We saw a 72oz steak eating challenge in Amarillo, TX. We got stuck in a blizzard in New Mexico that forced us to drive 20mph and took us 5 hours to drive a little over 100 miles. We drove through a desert, the prairie, and finally wound our way around the Rockies and into Telluride. We had a blast, but we all got sick.

Once in Telluride we immediately got to skiing. We warmed up on some runs lower on the mountain before really getting after it on Day 2. Apres-Ski activity revolved around the hot tub and a few local bars. My roommate from school Jaren came out for the last few days and brought new enthusiasm to the slopes.

Getting home was a production, but luckily my 6:15 am flight out of Montrose (hour and a half drive from T-Ride) got me into LaGuardia before the huge storm hit the East Coast.

We handed out 50 T-Shirts and close to 100 paris of Jack Wills Party Pants and by the end of the week I was simply known among the friends we made as "Jack". It was a great experience and thank you Jack Wills for making this possible.

Last Day in T-Ride (Blog by Jaren LaGreca)

I couldn't have asked for a better day of skiing on our last day at Telluride. The previous night had dumped 7 fresh inches of snow and the slopes were pristine. As the chairlift whisked me skyward to an elevation of 12,570 feet, the sun peaked out of the clouds to signal the start of what would be an incredible day. Getting off of the chairlift I wasted no time in fulfilling my adrenaline needs, I dropped into the Revelation Bowl off of a large cornice into the pillow like snow below me. It's difficult to describe what riding on fresh powder feels like, one must really experience it firsthand. However, if I had to put it into to words, I would say it would be the equivalent to floating on a cloud. These conditions persisted throughout the entire day and surprisingly the resort never got crowded. Multiple times I found myself having an entire ski run to myself. Doesn't get much better than that.

After 4 hours of skiing I was exhausted and famished. I decided it was time to call it quits when every other turn I was eating a face full of snow (but not because I was hungry). So, I hauled my butt off of the mountain to La Cocina del Luz, a favorite local restaurant, where I devoured a chicken burrito smothered in green chile. It was delicious.

Visiting Telluride is unlike any other trip or vacation I've had. The breathtaking views and incredible ski terrain make for an adventure I won't soon forget.

Fresh Snow

3 inches of snow fell overnight and there were near perfect conditions today on the slopes. Snow drifts in the bowls made for knee deep powder everywhere. Jaren, a roommate of mine from school came up on Friday to get in on the action and he was all over the mountain today. Thought I was going to die when Jaren suggested we hike the Prospect Bowl, but about 45 turns, 1,500 feet, and 3 near crashes later I proudly coasted in the fresh powder. We went out into town last night to Brown Bear Bar to watch the Jets game and enjoyed some local microbrews. Tomorrow is my last day in Colorado before heading back to New York for the rest of vacation.

Telluride the Town

Unfortunately Colin got hurt on Monday and wont been able ski for the rest of the vacation and has to leave a few days early to get better medical care. He is doing fine but is in some pretty bad pain. It has been tough going out solo, but it has also forced me to meet a lot of people and I have met some locals with some crazy stories about the town. Last night I met up with a few friends at the Historic Bar at the Sheridan, an original hotel/bar built in the late 1800s. The bar had a really old school western feel, and my new friends explained that the angled mirrors on the ceiling were meant so you could see if someone was coming up from behind to shoot you. It was too dark to get a good picture but I found this one just to give you an idea.

The locals had some pretty great stories, and it turns out that Telluride was one of the first towns considered to be part of the Wild Wild West. Butch Cassidy's first recorded bank robbery was at the San Miguel Valley Bank in the middle of town and the a few miles outside of Telluride the town Ridgway has been the filming location for many western movies including John Wayne's True Grit, How the West Was Won, and Tribute to a Bad Man.

The skiing is unbelievable and one of my roommates from school is coming out to board for the last few days. We're expecting a big storm this weekend which will hopefully open up some of the back country stuff. The party pants continue to be a huge hit.

Hitting the Slopes

The skiing has been nothing short of incredible. The snow has been great and there have been no lines at the lifts. Everywhere I look I feel like could be seeing the picture from a postcard. The house is five minutes from Mountain Village and is facing the range that Coors uses for its logo.We've been getting up early and have been on the slopes by 9:30 everyday. The Hop Garden, a German restaurant with great schnitzel and burgers has been our favorite spot for lunch, and Smugglers Brew Pub has been our Apres-Ski destination. Jack Wills gear has been a hit on the West Coast and the Party Pants have been especially popular. We are currently working on getting a video montage of the Road Trip and our first few days of skiing so check back here soon for more.

Thursday morning I flew from New Jersey to Charlotte to Dallas where Colin picked me up and we continued our trip across country. We drove from Dallas to Amarillo, TX where we stopped at Big Texas to watch the 72oz steak challenge. Basically if you take the challenge you sit in a chair on a raised platform so everyone can see you and try and finish a 72 oz sirloin cut (over 4.5 lbs) in under an hour to get the free steak. Apart from being absolutely hilarious, this is nearly impossible and incredibly grotesque. None of the 7 contestants while we were there was able to finish it.

After we finished eating we continued driving through New Mexico where we ran into a blizzard about 80 miles east of Albuquerque. It ended up taking us 4 hours to go the final 80 miles and we checked into our hotel at 3:30 am. Friday morning we woke up and drove the final 8 hours of the trip and made it safely to Telluride, CO. We are both exhausted from the trip and are having a bit of trouble adjusting to living at 10,000 ft above sea level but are planning on going out tonight and celebrating the new year.

Merry Christmas. Like everybody traveling in the northeast I was snowed in on Sunday. I couldn't get a flight out until Thursday so Colin left Sarasota without me. I am going to meet him in Dallas and drive the final two legs of the trip (Santa Fe & Colorado). He stopped in Tallahassee on Monday night and New Orleans last night. I will put up some pictures of me stuck in the storm in New Jersey later today and post Colin's tomorrow night.

In other news--I just got word from the Boys&Girls club of Dorchester that I was selected for one of their charity spots to run in the Boston Marathon this spring. I will keep you posted on this but it is going to be a really cool way to raise some money for a great organization and will be reason for a huge celebration this spring.

So my semester in Bretagne is almost over and I've finally made it to the week of our show @ the Centre International d'Art Contemporain in Pont Aven. I have 3 more sculpture and 4 paintings to do before the open studio/opening friday!! (yikes!)
My work is focusing on the juxtapositions of the old architecture of European cities and the contemporary aesthetic of advertising. I'm also working a lot with how my generation is relating to these old histories of the cities in which they live. The cities I'm focusing on are Madrid, Barcalone, Paris, Berlin, London and Dublin. I traveled to these cities each for 4 nights. On the first night out, I tried to latch on to a group of kids who I felt personified these cities in which they were living, I went out with them a lot, they showed me their city and I got to know them. I collected lots of papers, notes and drawings that I'm using as a reference for my work. This kind of "research" (such fun) allowed me to crush my preconceived sterio-types I had about these places and I met some really great people on the way.

holy sh*t has it been a busy month.
skiing, midterms (one more today), chinese talent show(hence the title of my newest post), partying, finding an internship(got one!), finding a house in burlington for my sister and i(got one!), building a mini ramp(more on this to come), attempting to skate it, you get the picture. looking back it doesnt seem ike that much; then again partying is/was a BIG chunk. oh and did i mention the pretty lights show this sunday?! UNREAL. longest show of the tour, on easter (happy easter), played all my favorite tunes.

this past weekend aldy and i decided to get a premature start on the first drink of the summer and escape to the vineyard for an over-nighter. we missed our ferry by literally seconds due to my crap driving, so had an hour and a half to kill at the bar before the next boat arrived. in retrospect, i shouldnt have started drinking vodka before 5. a few capecodders and beers later we were on island, and working some steadily rising BAC's. got dinner at the News and agreed that we were going to ride our bikes to every bar in edgartown. apparently i cant drive OR bikeride because i'm now sporting some impressive bruises. alden bought me my first legal drink at the Wharf, where they didn't even ID me (they took 3 of my fake id's in one month, and now i'm legal they don't even ID me, figures.) we bounced between david ryans, the atlantic, the wharf, and my house where we took an intermission to fuel up on espresso vodka for an energy boost. the rest of the night is somewhat of a mystery, apparently ending in a kind police officer giving me a lift home from the wharf (all of one block away). thank you for your continued service, edgartown police force. in the morning there was a wide array of meats on the counter- witnesses claim that i tried to create a microwaved feast of bacon, ham, scallops and sausage. needless to say we had a late start on the next day- headed to espresso love for some breakfast sandwiches, went on a bikeride, laid out on my upstairs balcony and hung out on the beach for a bit... perfect hangover cure (to supplement a gallon of water and tylenol). gave the house a thorough cleaning to hide the evidence of our debauchery, and caught the 5oclock ferry back to the mainland. heading back to DC tonight, such a tease of a trip.

College springbreak is just around the corner. This year I decided not to subject my body to harmful UV rays and possible alcohol poisoning, instead opting to spend the week at home in New Hampshire for some more ass-chapping cold weather. If I'm lucky my dad will let me work on transcribing his medical charts to the new computer filing system. Just kidding, the decision's more based on the fact that I'm literally down to my last pennies and the only flight my dad would pay for was one straight home. I'm excited though. Maybe I'll get one of those spray-on tans...less chance of getting kidnapped at Electric Beach tanning salon than in Mexico anyways. Although I have been known to wander away with strangers. Further plans entail "Burrito Day" with the lovely Brian Mahoney Jr., a day of nothing but burritos. WEEEEEEEEE.

Hola/holla y'all. Just returned from a wild week in Spain with some friends from my french school. Madrid is my new favorite place on earth. We started the trip off with a weekend there where I had about 2 hours sleep total. I had the most amazing Tapas, heard plenty of awesome lispy spanish accents and even went to see a Calvin Harris concert which was WIICKED. One of the best weekends I've had in 20 years. Madrid is amazing.
Next stop Barcelona where the weather was amazing and the vibe was very summery (imissthevineyard.) I went for a couple looong nights out and my friend Annie and I narrowly avoided getting robbed very early one morning although I ended up crawling across Las Ramblas in the rain.
Very sad to have missed the USA tour but here are a few treats from Spain.

JW Seasonnaires return from USA, and Tobogganing Championships!!!

It was cold. -24 average.

There were late nights, more often than not.

There were early mornings, and lots of coffee.

We skied at Middlebury College, and fell over lots!

We partied hard at the University of Vermont and were wowed by the freestyle skiing competition, Battle for Burlington at Stowe Mountain.

We dragged the students of Boston away from midweek studies to join in the burlesque theme night at Oberon.

And finally, after three weeks on the move, clocking over a 1000 miles in the 'oh so freezing' Land Rovers, we made our way to Maine, where we competed in the USA Tobogganing National Championships!

There at the appropriately named Jack Williams Mountain, we the JW Seasonnaires spend 2 days of thrill-seeking, spine-tingling, nerve-rattling, HIGHLY competitive racing!!!

Along with our 30 strong party of friends and brand reps, we succeeded in making the biggest impact, and had by far the most fun!

Needless to say we didn't qualify for the finals!

It has been an action packed finale to the Jack Wills USA Winter Seasonnaire Tour.

We hosted a party with the girls at HER CAMPUS at Club Orberon, in Harvard Sqaure.

The students weren't shy on the idea of a midweek party and replaced the library, with a dance floor!!! The Hoola Troopa dance act were amazing! Click the photos to see the talent!!!

We then ventured up to Maine for the US Toboggan Nationals. With our brand reps all competing and a healthy entourage of family and friends, we certainly made our mark on what was a FANTASTIC 2 days. Needless to say none of our teams came anywhere near the top of the leader board, however we won best dressed, best team name (The Ambadassadors), best drink (gasolina), best after party, best half time interval entertainment AND managed to make it onto the FRONT PAGE of the local press!!!

WOW!!! What can we say, its been amazing!

Friday was THE COLDEST DAY EVER so we wrapped up warm and drove to the frozen Lake Champlain, where we tried some ice sailing in sleds. Not very successful.

That same evening we hosted a party at Nectars where live rock and roll (and another VERY questionable genre for music) was on the menu. Chris had a really fantastic night, he lost the plot!

What better way to nurse our head that breathing in the fresh mountain air at Stowe ski resort. Here we sponsored BATTLE FOR BURLINGTON, an insane freestyle ski competition, in which UVM, St Michael's College and Champlain College students all go head to head, sending huge 900's in the park all day long. A fantastic event and great day out!

What's that i hear you say? "Not ANOTHER party...?"

Oh yes, we finally finished our Burlington visit with our Brand Ambassadors, Al, Ax and Chris at Sigma Phi, where we hosted the WINTER CARNIVAL party that had the whole campus talking! Thanks to the Sigma Phi brothers for an excellent end to an amazing (if not a FREEZING) week up in Burlington. Can't wait to be back!

PS: The girls won the best costume prize for their snow bunnies, WELL DONE GIRLS!!!

We have been in Burlington for a few days now and we're STILL not used to the cold!!!

Our brand ambassadors Al, Ax and Chris have been great hosts as ever, taking us out most nights! Burlington is the home of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, so we visited the factory and had THE grand tour, lots of free samples! Mmmm...

We got caught in a snow storm on the way to Stowe, the local ski mountain where a foot of snow fell in 4 hours!!! Pass the salt England...

Stowe is where we will be this weekend as its Battle 4 Burlington, a local ski competition between the students at UVM, St. Michael's College and Champlain College. Its all set to be a HUGE event, and with Sigma Phi throwing an invite only party on Saturday night (the talk of the town right now) it is set to be a GIGANTIC weekend!!!

So....Hi y'all. Have been in France pour 3 days and it really does feel like I've been here for a while. On my first day, my new friends and I went on a hike, exploring the countryside and it is UNBELIEVABLY beautiful out here. Amazing forests, a beautiful babbling brook in the centre of the town and incredibly beautiful french houses. On the first night, a bunch of my new classmates and I went to check out the night life in Pont Aven....it's very analogous to Edgartown in winter but still very fun. After a few drinks @ the local bar that is shaped like a mill and has a patio over the river (tres jolie) we went for a drink at one of the local studios. The painter ended up being a guy who was wearing a purple felt hat and animal pelts all night AND who's dancing skills we were all admiring all evening (more or less)
The students here are all unbelievably talented and also very diverse which has been really awesome and interesting.

Bonjour Y'all,
I've just arrived saturday in Bretagne. I'm going to be painting for the next 5 months in Pont Aven. I have trips to Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and Madrid planned and maybe I'll sneak away to London and Edinburg (sp?) for a weekend in spring. Very exciting possibilities! I'm just getting settled into my new home (with a very nice lady named Lorianne, who to my dismay speaks rien (zero) Aglais. My french should be impeccable by may.) Anyway lots of exciting pictures and movies to come. My colleagues here include some very talented photographers, painters, performers, and filmmakers so I'm geared up to learn a lot. (And having a really wild time as well) Looking forward to showing a lot on the blog. look out for photos etc. soon!

-SPRING SEMESTER!!!!!-

After over a month long winter break, it's finally time to repack the Jeep and head back to Trinity for part 2 - spring semester!

Sure, I wasn't thrilled about replacing tons of FRESH powder in New Hampshire with the slushy remnants of snow melting on the streets of downtown Hartford, but I still packed up all my gear, tied my toboggan to the car, and took off 2.5 hours South.

After an absolutely RiDiCUUUlous 21st birthday party we hosted for my roommate at our Tiki Bar, I could tell we are all geared up for what I am sure will be an insane spring.

Obviously I'll miss the snow, the home cooking, the endless amounts of free time... but with a lacrosse stick in one hand and an endless supply of Solo cups in the other, I'm ready for Trinity - SPRING SEMESTER.

We're getting used to the commute over the pond...

This time no real dramas, other than the 2 Land Rovers needing a little encouragement and a 24 hour make over in a Manhattan garage. A blessing in disguise as we had the chance to hit the streets of Lower East Side and visit a classic on the sightseeing circuit, the Empire State Building... woo!!!

First (official) stop of this tour was Middlebury College up north in Vermont, where we have spent a long weekend partying with our new brand ambassador Emily and her mental Middlebury crew! Its J-Term which means no work, all play! Count us in!!!

We visited the Middlebury Snow Bowl, their own ski mountain!!!

Neon ski gear seems to be the theme of most parties, so you can imagine how popular the party pants are!!!

GEARING UP for tobogganing nationals!

i've worked out a fool-proof training regimen, which if performed on a daily basis, i'm 90% sure will lead to victory.

-25 crunches, give or take, with intermittent breaks for Gasolina.
-Hold breath underwater for 30 second intervals, 4 times a day. Lung capacity is key, I've also noticed this gives me the appearance that I just washed, therefore allowing me to shower less and have more time for training.

better late than never.

this christmas my sisters and parents and I flew out to Minnesota for a Christmas that will go down in Hayssen history books.

got in christmas eve in time for a nice dinner with the family members who'd arrived. following morning got up early planning to open presents but got distracted by the beautiful snowball/snowmen snow that had fallen the couple nights before.

it wasn't long before my dad and I were outside making moves on the largest snowman the city of lakes has ever seen:
this is the torso of said snowman, the first ball was easily 5-6 feet tall, we built it up until it was unmovable.
then the ramps came in for some heavy lifting:

after building our masterpiece, we realized the only reasonable thing to do next with all the snow was to bring the family to battle. building the snowman into one fort, and the others coming out of the woods, my cousins, sisters, and uncles had a truly unreal snowball fight. absolute blast! it was complete with cavalry charges, trashbag flags, helmets, my little sister rocking me in the face point black with a snowball, my dad launching about ten pound bombs over the walls, and of course whitewashing.
my team, starting a trend you will see continued throughout the course of the holidays, won:

after a brilliant Christmas dinner and presents, we split up into two teams for charades, a tradition among family reunions, this years category was things that are imaginary, my team prepping their clues:

you cannot truly get a good sense of the intensity of a hayssen charades game or the determination and brilliance required to win, here i am acting out the clue 'the duke of bildgewater' from mark twains huckleberry finn... not sure what i was going for but we got the clue in record time, notice the dialed down form, significantly evolved from my early charades days, and my brain cranking away under the mask of this...beaver?:

no need to tell you my team kicked ass.

next day we woke up early and went to an art museum. they had this neat dolphin you could ask questions and it would answer. he knew quite alot about jackwills, but couldn't document him due to museum rules.

after enlightening ourselves at the museum we hopped into our whips and drove to a place called "The Firm" in downtown Minneapolis for spin class.
for those of you that don't know spin class is excersice on bikes, it was my first time), and at the firm, besides being surrounded by the fittest people you've ever seen, they also having rocking techno and a light show to get you in the zone. my family had a pretty good showing, i think about 10 of us did it, it was a blast!

look for those shorts coming out by jackwills soon. so stylish. ^two of my sisters, my cousin, my dad, and some golden babe i had my sights on.

when we got home we realized what a good thing it was we worked up room for dinner and...dinner and....dinner and... wine tasting.
my uncle chip put together and AMAZING wine tasting event:

we had three white wines and 5 reds, we had two reviews of each wine in a random order on a sheet of paper, and by judging taste, color, and smell we had two identify the 8 unkown wines we had in front of us. great time, i have quite an accute sense of smell when it comes to red wine boquets, and, needless to say, the family got quite shitty;

Here are the aunts, intrigued, listening to something incredibly interesting and intelligent I was probably saying:

before long we couldn't hold our wine any longer and all those reds caught up to us:

so there it is, a recap of my christmas. when we got back to good 'ol vermont Laney and I made a bunch of skrilla, skied a whole shitload, dialed down some 5's and 7's, (footage to come), and kept it real around Stratton.

Yo yo yo!! So to change things up a bit from the surfing, catamarans, and getting too sunburned, we decided to venture into the rain forest for some waterfalls that don't involve Medalla Light or an infamous Gasolina! (If you haven't tried a Gasolina, they're a Puerto Rican gift from god. tequila, rum, and some juice in a juicebox package.. straw included.) The hike to the waterfall was pretty slippery and muddy but well worth it. There was a pretty hilarious rope swing, a cave (which we couldn't get footage of cause you had to swim under the cliff to get to), and an awesome jumping cliff. Here's a vid of some of the highlights of the day.

i'm too damaged to talk about the events of last night, i'll tell you when i'm feeling less nawwsh, but i may have hijacked a maraca and joined a band.

So I'm sitting in Logan after a super early wake-up on my way to Puerto Rico for an epic new years. The ride here was pretty crazy, its not every day you see empty highways entering Boston. I guess the time of day helped! Even Dunkin' Donuts was closed, ahh!

Well I'm hoping the destination is more exciting than this journey.. Can't wait to hit the beach!
